Firstly, I have very little desire to
explain Sweet Pea. It is a film
extremely personal to myself and
Claire Saunders, and the two of us
know it deeply.
To me that is crucial.
The artists have a deep relationship,
intentionality, and understanding.
Trust that the film was made this way.
However
I also understand the human desire in
all of us to feel like we “understood”
something right. To know we
connected with something in the
“intended” way. Unfortunately for that
desire however, Sweet Pea has no such
connection. This film is entirely
about what you manage to pull away
from it with independent of anything
external.
Sweet Pea wakes up in the woods.
What do those woods mean to you?
What the woods or any other part of
the film mean to me are irrelevant
because the world and key you crafted
for the filmic language I presented and
utilized is the art I made.
So please understand that if anyone asks
me or you...
Sweet Pea is a story about a girl with a
rabbit head who wakes up in a forest of
realization after a fight with her mother.
